As a company, we have a responsibility to society, which is why we prioritise the promotion of fairness, equality of opportunity and social cohesion.
Social sustainability at WALTHER Faltsysteme
Social sustainability
Act socially
Our employees are our most important asset
The support of all employees is required for sustainability to be practised throughout the company. We value our employees as our most valuable resource. For this reason, mutual respect and tolerance as well as an encouraging working environment form the basis for our collaboration. We guide our employees in flat hierarchies and value constructive feedback and encouraging a healthy error culture.
We strive for fair and long-term employment relationships in which employees can grow and develop individually. We provide regular training and development opportunities, work in offices with modern facilities, are committed to protecting health and offer other attractive job benefits.
Diversity Charter
In October 2024, we signed the "Charta der Vielfalt" (Diversity Charter) – an initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions. By signing it, we are committing to a culture of appreciation and respect, free from prejudice.
We value creative minds and employees who critically question the status quo. Equality is a matter of course for us – gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnic background and nationality, religion and worldview, disability or social background do not matter. On the contrary, we value diverse personalities who bring different perspectives, experiences and skills to the company We decide who we employ, where we deploy them and how much they are paid solely on the basis of their training, skills and performance.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Ever since our company was founded, we have attached great importance to social responsibility - not only within the company, but also in our relations with our business partners. We have therefore used the opportunity of voluntary certification by the German Association of the Plastics Converters (Gesamtverband Kunststoffverarbeitende Industrie e. V., GKV) and thus take a stand on these important issues.
With this certification, we commit ourselves to comply with nationally and internationally applicable law, to refrain from any child labour, forced labour or discrimination and to ensure health and safety at the workplace as well as sustainable environmental protection.
In addition to voluntary certification, we are audited annually by the independent EcoVadis Institute. The "EcoVadis Award" recognises companies that act responsibly regarding environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. We received the silver medal in 2023, placing us among the top 25 percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis.
Local engagement
We see it as our responsibility to society to be actively supportive and donate to organisations and projects in our region. The total of all donations made by WALTHER in 2023 amounts to around 50,000 euros.
Annual employee charity campaign
WALTHER employees are asked to actively participate in the decision-making process for the annual charity campaign. They are invited to name potential donation recipients and then cast their vote on who should receive a donation.
In 2023, the donations went to the following organisations:
- Aktion St. Nicolaus
- Castra Nova Sommercamp
- Hospizverein Kevelaer e.V.
- Kevelaerer Bürgerstiftung Seid einig
- Runder Tisch Flüchtlinge Kevelaer
Donations in kind
In addition to monetary donations, WALTHER also distributes donations in kind where necessary. In crisis situations, such as the flood disaster in summer 2021, our folding boxes in particular can be a great support for the volunteers. But local organisations, kindergartens and schools also receive our donations in kind.
