Our contribution to the SDGs at a glance
In line with our corporate philosophy, we focus on six SDGs where we can contribute most effectively to achieving these goals:
Goal 3: Good health and well-being
We place great importance on the health and well-being of our employees. Therefore, we offer a company pension scheme, accident insurance, and comprehensive health initiatives. These include, amongst others, occupational health check-ups, ergonomic workstations, and a subsidy towards glasses for screen-based work. In addition, we support our employees’ health outside the workplace through bike leasing, a free membership at a local gym, and 30 days of annual leave. These measures promote a healthy work-life balance and contribute to the long-term wellbeing of our employees.
Goal 4: Quality education
Education is the foundation of innovation. That is why we support our employees in expanding their knowledge and skills. Alongside regular in-person training – covering topics such as our product portfolio, environmental and energy management – our digital learning platform WALTHERcampus is available to all staff. There, employees can access mandatory training and voluntary development courses at any time, allowing them to build their knowledge flexibly. As an IHK-accredited training company, we offer five vocational apprenticeships and support students through internships, student projects as well as final theses. Many of our former apprentices and interns are now an integral part of our team.
Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy
Sustainable energy supply is a key priority for us. Our offices already run on 100% green electricity – generated both from our own solar panels and from externally sourced renewable energy. In our production facilities, we also increase the share of renewable energy year on year, significantly reducing our CO2e footprint.
Goal 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Our reusable load carriers make a significant contribution to more sustainable logistics. Thanks to their volume-reducing design, they not only save valuable resources but also improve efficiency throughout the entire supply chain. This is a prime example of how innovation can be used effectively to advance the SDGs. We develop customised solutions for our customers’ individual logistics challenges. These range from optimising available transport space to creating innovative transport packaging solutions that minimise the ecological footprint. These practical solutions demonstrate how our innovative capabilities directly contribute to the implementation of sustainable logistics.
Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production
Our products stand for durable reusable quality over single-use goods. Their robust design allows them to be used for many years and across numerous cycles. They are also repairable and recyclable at the end of their service life. In this way, they support the circular economy and help keep resources in the materials cycle for as long as possible. We are also increasingly using recycled materials to save resources, reduce the demand for virgin raw materials, and minimise waste.
Goal 13: Climate action
Climate protection is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Each year, we calculate the corporate carbon footprint for the entire WALTHER Faltbox Group. Our goal is the continuous reduction of our emissions, which we achieve through process improvements and targeted investments – making a positive contribution to climate protection.
Additional measures for a sustainable future
While our six prioritised SDGs are at the heart of what we do, we do not lose sight of the remaining goals. Beyond these six Sustainable Development Goals, we contribute to sustainability within our company through a range of further measures:
- Financial security: Through fair, performance-based pay, employer contributions to employee savings schemes, and tax-free benefits in kind, we strengthen the financial security of our employees.
- Nutrition: We encourage healthy eating by providing free fresh fruit for our employees. We also help reduce food waste through our robust collapsible boxes, which provide reliable product protection during transport.
- Company history: For over 45 years, we have continuously grown as a company and recognise the commitment of our long-serving employees.
- Equality and diversity: Equality is a fundamental part of our company culture. We foster a culture of diversity and equal opportunity and are actively committed to a discrimination-free workplace. Our signing of the Diversity Charter and the appointment of our Equality Officer reflect this commitment.
- Local engagement: TThrough our operations at our site in Kevelaer, we strengthen the region and actively support local projects and initiatives that benefit the community.
Continuous improvement and transparency
Sustainability is not a fixed state, but a dynamic process that requires ongoing commitment and adaptation. At the WALTHER Faltbox Group, we therefore pursue a continuous improvement approach that allows us to respond flexibly to new challenges and insights. Our goal is to achieve measurable progress and communicate it openly, creating a transparent basis for dialogue and feedback. Along the way, we aim not only to share our successes, but also to acknowledge challenges and the steps taken to address them – so that we can work together to develop sustainable solutions.
Sustainability as a shared responsibility
The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals are a call to action for all of us – to shape a world in which social justice, environmental awareness, and economic viability go hand in hand. At the WALTHER Faltbox Group, we see ourselves as an active part of this global network for positive change. Drawing on our expertise, we develop sustainable solutions that benefit both businesses and the environment. We also engage in partnerships with industry partners and organisations to advance our shared sustainability goals together.
Together with our employees, customers, and partners, we are committed to taking responsibility and paving the way for a fairer, more environmentally friendly future.
