4 questions to Martin Peters
Martin Peters on challenges, sustainability and prospects in marketing
Doreen Fischer: Hi Martin, what was the last major project you were involved in as Head of Marketing?
Martin Peters: Together with our IT department, we developed and launched the WALTHERcampus. This is a platform for the internal training and development of our employees. It includes product training, safety training, as well as topics related to artificial intelligence, such as ChatGPT. Right now, this is a major focus for us.
Doreen Fischer: What major challenges are we facing in marketing?
Martin Peters: We are constantly faced with the challenge of clearly distinguishing ourselves from microplastics and disposable plastic products. We focus on reusable solutions and replace disposable products, which already results in a fundamentally better carbon footprint.
Doreen Fischer: That’s right. As Sustainability Manager, I am also part of your team. How did that come about?
Martin Peters: In the marketing team, we see ourselves as a service unit for our sales team and the project team. As we receive more and more inquiries from our customers—such as “What is your carbon footprint?” or “How do your products contribute to sustainability?”—we felt that having a Sustainability Manager positioned within marketing was the right choice. This allows us to respond more effectively to our customers’ needs.
Doreen Fischer: Can you perhaps give us a small glimpse into the future? What’s coming up next?
Martin Peters: Yes, we have many exciting customer projects that are now gradually being realised. The trade fair season is also starting, and we will be represented with a large stand at various trade fairs in Germany, the UK and France. We are also preparing intensively for CSRD reporting. All in all, we have a lot of exciting projects and topics coming up that we are looking forward to and for which we are now gearing up.
Doreen Fischer: Thank you very much for the interview.
Martin Peters: You are welcome.
