The Vaillant brand is recognised internationally for energy-saving and environmentally friendly heating and ventilation systems. As early as 2006, its logistics were made sustainable and the supply chain changed to a lean system at 10 locations in Europe and China. A volume-reducible, reusable packaging was sought that protects the sensitive and valuable components from damage and meets the requirements of the various automated conveying technologies at the locations.
Using the standardised Hybox as the external packaging allows simplified, standardised processes in plants and on production lines. The split C-ring ensures optimal handling during assembly and removal of the components. The smooth surfaces of the injection-moulded pallet allow easy cleaning and reduce the cleaning of the components themselves. The high load capacity and rigidity of the Hyboxes enable space-saving storage in block storage and storage in high-bay racking.
The 4-foot unit, consisting of deep-drawn twin-sheet pallets and lids, is reinforced with a steel frame so that a load capacity of 750 kg in high-bay racking can be guaranteed. The bolt-on, injection-moulded feet can be replaced individually if they get damaged. The customised solution combines optimal handling with maximum utilisation of volume.
The large load carriers, which have now become standard, accommodate a wide range of custom-made interiors that have been optimally adapted to the respective product. The optimum packaging was found for each component and validated by laboratory tests and live tests before the series was rolled out.
