A prominent example of the use of our collapsible fruit and vegetable boxes is ALDI Süd. ALDI Süd is one of the leading discounters on the German and international market. All stores are supplied with fresh fruit and vegetables ever day. During transport until being sold, the produce spends most of its shelf life in the collapsible fruit and vegetable boxes – which, with a height of only 27.5 millimetres, are the flattest on the market.
Safely packed, easy picking
The use of our collapsible fruit and vegetable boxes has numerous advantages:
Sensitive produce is safely packed directly after harvesting and protected from damage. The perforated base and side walls ensure good air circulation, which keeps the produce fresh for a long period of time. Identification with in-mould labels allows safe tracking for automated handling in the distribution centres. Thanks to their smooth inner surfaces, the collapsible boxes allow easy and hygienic cleaning; residual water runs off and moisture is avoided.
Once in the shops, the goods are placed directly in the containers in the displays - they are handled efficiently and with care, without additional repacking.
Efficient return of the collapsible fruit and vegetable boxes
And the empties from the individual shops can also be returned efficiently thanks to their low height of only 27.5 mm, and then washed at central locations. From there, the containers are returned to the farmers and the journey of our collapsible fruit and vegetable boxes begins all over again.
By its own account, ALDI Süd has been able to save around 60 million disposable boxes in one year by using our reusable transport solution. In addition, transport costs and CO2 emissions have been significantly reduced thanks to the low empty volume.
